green onions

Why do I get so excited to grow my own veggies and plants? Especially when they grow so fast...
So I saw this the other day and decided to try it:

After you use the top part of your green onions, put the roots in water.

Keep adding water...

In about a week, you'll have these beauties ready to eat. Pretty easy (and neat) huh? I love green onions!

P.S. The last photo is with my new camera!!! Can you see the difference?

temple square lights

We have to see the lights every year, except, it seems we've skipped a few years...
Even this year we would plan, and that plan would fall through...
Turns out we went on the perfect night. It was high 40's (warm for Utah!) and although it rained the whole drive there, it stopped when we got there. We didn't even have to use our umbrellas. The sidewalks were shiny and glistening, and made the lights even more beautiful.

Do you see what I see? (Mr. O)
{stinkers}

It's worth going! I hope you can make it- AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!

sledding gives you the giggles

The best thing about sledding is it's FREE! And so fun. Forget the kids, I was running up the hills so I could go down over and over. Ha! We have the best hills at the school by our house too.

We've never had snowpants for our babies before, but this year we got them, since we're trying to be more adventurous in the snow... Linc wasn't enthused. His boots are about 8 sizes too big too, and the gloves only lasted 5 minutes.

Linc hung out on top of the hill most of the time. It was his first time- he'll get used to it eventually, right? I mean, hopefully he won't laugh cry down the hill every time...

I am so pleasantly surprised by Ollie- he didn't complain at all! We even took turns carrying up the sled, since we went together most of the time.
The only time Linc was happy was when he was shoveling fruit snacks as fast as they could get from his icy cold fingers into his hot mouth. (Actually, his hands were hot because I tightened the wrist straps so his hands were trapped inside. I had to loosen them so he could eat...) Oh yes, you WILL wear gloves.
The art of eating snow. Watch any kid- they'll show you how. (It's a delicate procedure.)
We had a little snowball fight. Linc laughed so hard and Ollie was great to humor him and fall over. He's good to that little Linc.

Not sure what this game is called- but it looks fun. For Elliott.

We had fun. Even Linc although you can't tell from this picture. I think his fun lasted 5 minutes (see fruit snack pic.) We'll be back, snowy hills of yore, we'll be back.

ice skating for a buck

My friend Linds N. told us about this little ice skating rink in South Jordan. It is so little and cozy. And guess what? Only $1 to rent the skates and it's free to go on the ice!
Cutest little figure skater ever!
Our kids have never been so we started off on the bar- just feeling the ice and getting used to it. They were very brave and curious to try it out.

Elliott getting a quick lesson- he picked it up really quick. Adam doesn't remember the last time he went- it made us laugh. (Don't worry- he picked it up quick too.) How long has it been since YOU'VE been??? That's what I thought... TOO LONG!
These two went around and around and got better each time. (Cousins- Elliott and Elli)
Ollie and Addie were happy to do modern dance moves on the ice. They hung out on their bellies most of the time.
Linc even got a ride! We saw someone pulling a tiny sled on a rope with their toddler inside- wish we would have thought of that! Someone else brought a 5 gallon bucket for their kid to hang on to for balance. Hillbilly? (I say smart.)
You can sit all along the side to rest and watch.

Ollie making ice angels. He could only skate if I held a hand and Adam held the other (and even then he was like a wet noodle on ice!) but he still had fun.
You could even go for date night!
(CUTE huh? Little does Adam know, we're going back, just the two of us...)
After the big skate and still smiling.
We had so much fun skating! It's something new for the boys and they loved it. We can't wait to go back. Go do it!
Afterwards we enjoyed some rootbeer and pizza at the Pie. We just pulled the table over by the fireplace and ate outside! In December! (Temps hit the mid 50's on Monday.)

If you want to go skating just go to the shopping center off of Redwood Road and 10400 S. in South Jordan, the one with Cafe Rio and the Pie. Go to the back of the Pie to park. The skate rental hut is next door to the back door of The Pie.
