battlecreek falls snowshoe

We loved snowshoeing Battlecreek Falls!
We've hiked it a few times in the summer, so it was fun to see it covered in snow.
It was GORGEOUS!

We were the only ones on the trail- I guess the snow scared people away from going outside?
But it wasn't too cold, especially once we started walking.
We were sure to wear layers and unzip when we got too warm.
We just had Lincoln walk in his boots since he's only three, but Oliver (6) and Elliott (9) did great with their snowshoes.

All the boys loved climbing up the hills, throwing snow in the water and of course, tasting the snow.
Click below for more pictures and directions to get there!

We took poles even though they aren't necessary.
The boys loved using them, but in the end Adam and I carried them back.
I thought they were nice on a couple of steep parts on the trail- like getting down to the waterfall- since I am a little off-balance these days being pregnant.

Stop at a pool along the way.

Here's the little cave right after the bridge- see Elliott inside?

Sometimes a 3-year-old needs to be carried... He was such a trooper the whole time!
Looking back at the canyon we just walked through.
You can see Pleasant Grove and Utah Lake.
First view of the falls!

We had to hike down a narrow steep trail for a little bit and the temperature was definitely cooler down by the falls. We had a snack break, played by the water and made our way back out.

 Beautiful!

Climbing hills and rolling down.
We have some pretty funny videos of this.

Adam is always throwing snowballs- so one of the boys got him back right in the eye...

Ollie found this at the end of the trail... I wouldn't let him bring it home so we took a picture instead.
Me and Adam
So glad we get to take these boys on adventures together.

Directions to Battlecreek Falls:

Go to 200 South in Pleasant Grove.
Follow the road East toward the mountain until you end in the parking lot.
The hike to Battlecreek Falls is about 1 mile round trip.
It is uphill all the way to the falls, so might feel a little longer for kids.
Just be ready to take breaks and of course bring snacks and water- even in the winter!

P.S. The snow wasn't that deep and this hike could have easily been done in good winter boots.
Just in case you don't have access to snowshoes.
