lisa falls

Lisa Falls is the perfect little hike for kids! It's only .2 miles round trip (that's right POINT 2), but the trail is sort of steep to give the kids a sense of adventure, with a shallow stream on the side. It's pretty shady too, with a few perfect picnic spots to pull off on. It's tucked away just enough that you can't see it from the road- a little hidden treasure.
(I picked up by bro, Eric and sis Tagen along the way... how lucky are they to live so close to the canyon? Too bad Adam went on a motorcycle ride yesterday and missed out.)
The trail...

The big boys found sticks to hike up with, so Linc grabbed a little one to follow suit.

You aren't seeing things- Ollie had a blue sucker on the ride up.
The water falls on this giant granite slab. It's so pretty.

Tagen helped the boys find some cool granite rocks in the stream.
We were glad we wore sandals, because part of the trail crosses over shallow water, and it was fun playing in the stream.
Cool colors huh?

As if the waterfall wasn't exciting enough for the boys, there were also
thousands of caterpillars on the trees! They were so happy collecting them!
And we collected them from our hair on the car ride down. :)
Can you see how clear and beautiful the water is? And it was so cold- wanted to drink it!

Ollie gave me these to "hold for a second" while he climbed a rock. I couldn't contain them- eeek!

the trail down

It was a beautiful day to visit the falls.
I love how different all the canyons in Utah are!

Directions to Lisa Falls:

Head to Little Cottonwood Canyon. Remember if you take the 90th south exit off the freeway and head East, it turns into 94th south, which takes you right into Little Cottonwood Canyon.

From the large parking area at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon Road (hwy 210) up the canyon (east) for 2.7 miles. As the road begins to bend to the right, turn into the small turnout parking area on your left. (You'll pass one just before on your right.) There's a rock in the parking area that says "Lisa Falls" on it.

Have fun!
