grand tetons day 2

On our second day in Jackson, we decided to drive into the park to see more of the fall colors and the amazing mountain peaks.
But first we started off at Bubba's- who knew a BBQ
place could have such a delicious breakfast menu?
Bubba's is famous for it's biscuits and I followed Abby when she took the top biscuit off, slathered it with jelly and ate it first, and then ate the bottom egg and cheese open-faced. Delicious. I've been to Bubba's for lunch too. You've got to go if you're in Jackson!
The plan was to go on another little hike before the forecasted storms came in.
The skies looked friendly enough. (I love a Wyoming sky!)

We drove by rivers and lakes and little streams. A beautiful drive!
Then we got closer to the mountain peaks- they were, once again, amazing and we couldn't stop staring!

We stopped at Jackson Lake to let the boys play...

...but the rain met us there.

Isn't this rocky beach the coolest? The rocks were even darker because of the rain. So pretty.

Love the colors against the green.

Changing plans because of the rain.
We decided to just drive around and take in the spectacular views.

The rain let up, so we walked down the street to see a little river.

My boys LIVE for throwing rocks into water- so another rocky beach was the perfect spot.

pure joy!

Elliott's huge rock.
We found so many cool ones here- all smoothed from rolling in the river.
We even brought a couple home (including that big one!)

The guys had no problem keeping themselves busy- turns out boys of all ages like to throw rocks...
...clay pigeon shooting- with rocks...

...baseball- with rocks...

...roll the log in the river and hit it with- you guessed it- rocks.

And of course- rock skipping competitions. Here's Adam's stash.
Linc liked finding the slime...

It was such a treat to go during the fall colors!

The trees looked like they were on fire!
I love how the valleys at the bottom of the mountains are so colorful before the rocky peaks take over.

Last stop before heading home.

I couldn't get over the dark strip of rock that went straight down this peak! So interesting.

The Tetons are amazing!
