The gorgeous Provo River Falls.
Three tiers of waterfalls, little pools of beautiful clear water and
layered rocks all surrounded by green pines- an amazing combination!
We were staying in Midway, so we decided to head over through Kamas and into the Uintas to do a little hiking. Aren't these rocks amazing? This fun little canyon between Midway and Kamas surprised us with it's beauty.
Our plan was to do a one mile hike with the boys to a lake, but as we stopped to pay at one of the roadside pull-offs, we noticed people stopping at the bathroom in ORANGE. Everyone was wearing it, except us. It was deer hunting weekend! Maybe not the best time to hike in the middle of nowhere with our "plain clothes" and since we were just down the road from Provo River Falls, we decided to stop there. Once again- I have never seen them! Adam stopped by last year on the way home from a campout with the boys.
It's funny that the more I try to discover Utah-
the more I feel I don't know anything about it!
Where have I been all my life?
So much left to find out about this great state!
The falls were amazing!
As you can see, there isn't as much water coming down as there would be earlier in the summer, but it was still coming. It just made it easier to walk around and play in, but I can't wait to see it next year when it's full!
Most people just got out of their cars, stood at the lookout for a photo and were on their way.
Not us.
We decided to get closer to the falls and spent a good hour there, climbing up and down the rocks, playing by the water and discovering all the treasures it had to offer.

I couldn't get over it's beauty!
Can you see the snow on the mountain in the background?

Please excuse the water spots on my lens! |
Linc was going up and down all the rocky steps and climbing to his heart's content.
The big boys spent their time jumping puddles, climbing and balancing on rocks.
This tiny pool dropped off and was 4 or 5 feet deep. Linc liked watching his rocks sink to the bottom.
Elliott is always first to discover places to climb and then he shows Ollie the way up.

Elliott wanted to stay at this spot forever- it was so cool looking!
It was pretty chilly until the sun warmed us up a bit... so we found bits of ice and snow
- still a novelty since we haven't had much in the valleys.
The third tier of the falls.
Me and the boys.
The boys thought they were so cool standing on this ledge... (gulp.)
I love the mix of rocks and trees!
two-year-old adventurer
We loved this waterfall and can't wait to go back!
You still have a couple of good weekends left this fall...
but if you can't make it- be sure to put it on your list for next year!
You won't be disappointed!

we would go here all the time when I was little. We would drive up there on the conference weekends, listen to conference and then stop and have a picnic at a little Fairy park. It's a place on the way where people paint all the rocks. It's pretty cook! I love this place!
